Texas GOP Representative Brian Babin is pushing for legislation that would prohibit future federal bailouts for states that provide reparations based on race. In an interview with the John Solomon Reports podcast, Babin emphasized the need for this action, highlighting that these states aim to grant reparations based on skin color and events that took place 160 to 170 years ago. He expressed concerns that these states would then rely on the federal government for financial assistance. The legislation, known as the “No Bailouts for Reparations Act,” was introduced last month and has garnered support from 13 co-sponsors.
While Babin acknowledges the challenges the bill may face in the Senate, he believes that a vote on the House floor would be a significant moral victory. Although he doesn’t hold illusions about its passage in the US Senate or signing into law by President Biden, Babin firmly believes that this legislation is crucial and must be enacted.
