GOP Sends George Santos Case To Ethics Committee

House Republicans voted on Wednesday to refer New York Representative George Santos back to the Ethics Committee. Santos, who is facing federal fraud charges, sided with the GOP on the vote, as it would grant additional time for the completion of the ethics investigation against him.

According to NPR, Democrats spearheaded the effort to expel Santos from Congress following his recent plea of not guilty to the federal fraud charges.

During the vote, party lines were clearly drawn, with seven Democrats voting present, while the remaining Democrats supported the resolution for expulsion. On the other hand, all GOP members voted against the resolution.
