President Biden plans to nominate Air Force Gen. CQ Brown as his next Joint Chiefs chairman, putting black leaders in the top two Pentagon jobs for the first time in history.
If confirmed, as expected, Brown will join Lloyd Austin, the defense secretary and first black in that job.
Brown would replace Army Gen. Mark Milley. The president plans to unveil Brown as his pick during a Rose Garden event on Thursday afternoon.
