House Homeland Security Committee Chairman, Representative Mark Green (R-TN), has issued a subpoena to the Department of Homeland Security and its Secretary, Alejandro Mayorkas.
The subpoena demands records related to the emergency evacuation of Afghanistan in August 2021. Representative Green is seeking documents that clarify the procedures used by the Biden administration to screen over 76,000 Afghans during the U.S. military withdrawal from Afghanistan and the subsequent Taliban takeover.
The House Homeland Security Committee noted that Secretary Mayorkas had not provided satisfactory documents and materials in response to previous requests made in May.
