The House Judiciary Committee has called on the Biden administration to provide an explanation for the visits of a prosecutor associated with special counsel Jack Smith to the West Wing. This request comes in the wake of the indictment of former President Donald Trump on charges of mishandling classified national security records.
Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) reached out to both Attorney General Merrick Garland and White House chief of staff Jeff Zients, urging them to furnish all pertinent documentation regarding attorney Jay Bratt’s three confirmed meetings within the executive mansion. These meetings were initially reported by The Post over the weekend.
The correspondence from Jordan expressed concern over the circumstances: “According to recent reporting, Jay Bratt—a Department of Justice employee and top aide to Special Counsel Jack Smith—met with White House officials multiple times, just weeks before Mr. Smith indicted former President Donald Trump.”
