Illinois Cop Won’t Be Charged In Fatal Shooting

Officer Brett Taylor of Rock Island, Illinois will NOT be charged in the fatal shooting of 21-year-old Jakarta Jackson, according to the local district attorney.

The DA said the use of force was appropriate because Jackson allegedly shifted her car into drive while Officer Taylor was hanging onto the side.

Rock Island County State’s Attorney Dora Villarreal says Officer Taylor’s choice to shoot Jackson was “objectively reasonable and no criminal charges against Officer Taylor are supported by the facts.”
