JOE GOES THERE

Colorado Supreme Court justices made a bombshell ruling that has sent shock waves throughout the political world. The decision, which disqualified former President Donald Trump from the state ballot, found that he violated his oath and engaged in “insurrection and rebellion” against the country. This ruling was made under the post-Civil War 14th Amendment, which was created to ensure that those who engaged in insurrection against the United States were not able to hold public office.

President Joe Biden, who was Trump’s opponent in the 2020 election, refrained from commenting on the case until after the ruling had been made. He then allied himself with the Colorado Supreme Court justices, stating that Trump had engaged in insurrection. “He certainly supported an insurrection. There’s no question about it. None. Zero,” Biden said Wednesday.

“Now whether the 14th Amendment applies, I’ll let the court make that decision”  Biden said.

Trump himself had claimed that the ruling was an “abuse of power” and that he did not engage in insurrection. However, he seemed to admit to fueling an insurrection when he told reporters, “You saw it all.” Trump has consistently claimed that the election was stolen from him, and his supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol on January 6th in an attempt to overturn the results.

The 14th Amendment disqualifies anyone who engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the country from holding office. The Colorado Supreme Court justices determined that Trump’s actions on January 6th constituted insurrection and rebellion. This ruling has raised questions about whether Trump will be able to run for office again in the future.

The decision also highlights the importance of upholding the rule of law and the consequences of violating one’s oath of office. The 14th Amendment was created to ensure that those who engaged in insurrection against the United States were not able to hold public office. With this decision, it is clear that the Colorado Supreme Court justices take their responsibility to uphold the Constitution seriously.
