Judge Allows Alabama Ban On Trans Care For Minors To Stand

A federal appeals court issued a decision on Monday permitting Alabama to implement a prohibition against the usage of puberty blockers and hormones for treating transgender minors. This marks the second successful appellate outcome for limitations on gender-affirming care, which has been implemented by an increasing number of Republican-led states.
A panel consisting of three judges from the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals nullified a judge’s temporary injunction that had restrained the enforcement of the law. The judge has set a trial date for April 2 to determine whether the law should be permanently enjoined.
Steve Marshall, the Attorney General of Alabama, hailed the verdict as a “significant victory for our country, for children, and for common sense.”
