Judge Temporarily Blocks South Carolina’s Newly Signed Abortion Law

A South Carolina judge has blocked the state’s recently signed fetal heartbeat abortion law on Friday, just one day after it was enacted and challenged by pro-abortion groups.

Judge Clifton Newman, serving in the Circuit Court of South Carolina, issued an injunction while awaiting a decision from the South Carolina Supreme Court regarding the bill.

The bill is a similar version to one that was previously struck down by the state’s supreme court in January. As a result of Newman’s decision, South Carolina’s abortion limit reverts back to 22 weeks, as reported by Abortion Finder.
