The last defendants accused of taking part in the foiled plot nearly three years ago to kidnap Michigan Democrat Gov. Gretchen Whitmer went on trial Monday.
The defendants – Eric Molitor and brothers William Null and Michael Null –were allegedly among 14 men charged in the plot weeks before the November 2020 election.
The men, described by prosecutors as anti-government extremists, were angry about by Whitmer’s COVID-19 policies, which shut down schools and restricted the economy, investigators said in court filings.
Nine men have so far been convicted, including four who pleaded guilty. And Two others were acquitted at trial.
