House Speaker Kevin McCarthy has urged Congress to speed up the supply and delivery of military weapons to Taiwan in the midst of heightening tensions between the self-governed democracy and China’s communist regime.
Following a meeting with Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen, McCarthy (R-Calif.) called on the United States and its allies to take a stand against China’s aggression with a clear, consistent, and unified message that advances peace and defends democracy.
It’s critical that congressional leaders speak with “one voice” so that China’s communist leaders know “where we stand,” he added.
