LA City Council Votes To Sue Texas Over Migrant Busing Program

The Los Angeles city council voted unanimously this week to initiate a lawsuit and launch a criminal investigation against Texas regarding its migrant busing initiative.
The decision was made on Wednesday, shortly after the arrival of the eleventh migrant bus in the city’s jurisdiction since June. This recent bus transported 42 migrants. The city council specifically directed the city attorney’s office to examine whether Texas Governor Greg Abbott had engaged in any unlawful activities as part of the migrant busing program. They also sought to determine the viability of pursuing legal action.
Since the commencement of this initiative on June 14, Abbott’s program has transported a total of 435 migrants to Los Angeles. The broader program has resulted in over 30,000 migrants being sent to cities led by Democratic administrations across the nation, including New York City, Chicago, and Washington, D.C.
