President Biden announced Thursday the construction of library in Arizona honoring the late Republican Sen. John McCain.
Funding for the library will come from the American Rescue Plan in partnership with the McCain Institute and Arizona State University, according to the White House.
Biden in making the announcement while fundraising for fellow 2024 Democratic candidates in Arizona said he and McCain were often fought over political ideas while in the Senate together but were good friends.
“John is one of those patriots – when they die, their voices are never silent,” the president said. “They still speak to us. They tug at both our hearts and our conscience.”
