LIV Golfer Arrested For DWI

Professional golfer Harold Varner III was arrested for driving under the influence in South Charlotte, North Carolina, on Thursday night, as reported by WBTV in Charlotte.

According to the TV station, Varner was driving while impaired and registered a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of .16, which is twice the legal driving limit.

Varner has posted bond and is scheduled to appear in court on January 19, according to WBTV.

The 33-year-old golfer made headlines when he switched from the PGA to LIV Golf in August 2022, citing the move as a “financial breakthrough” that he couldn’t resist.

In a statement posted on Instagram at the time, Varner acknowledged the change in his life and explained, “The opportunity to join LIV Golf is simply too good of a financial breakthrough for me to pass by. I know what it means to grow up without much. This money is going to ensure that my kid and future Varners will have a solid base to start on.”

Varner also addressed potential changes in public opinion, stating, “Your opinion of me may change because of this announcement. No lie, that’ll be a tough thing to deal with. But I haven’t changed – I’m still me. I promise you that.”
