Maine SecState’s House Swatted After Removing Trump From State Ballot

Maine Secretary of State Shenna Bellows became a victim of swatting after her home was allegedly broken into by an unknown man.

The incident occurred on Friday night while she was on a holiday with her family. Law enforcement officials are investigating the incident, but no arrests have been made yet. The perpetrator called the Augusta Regional Communication Center to report the break-in and bring police officers to the home.

According to reports, the police found no one in the residence when they arrived. Swatting calls are considered fake emergency calls made to intimidate or frighten homeowners, and this isn’t the first incident of its kind.

Bellows had made a decision on Thursday to keep Donald Trump off the Maine Republican primary ballot, which allegedly led to an increase in threats against her.

Bellows took to social media to express her disappointment in these actions, which she considered “unacceptable.” In her Facebook post, she expressed her gratitude toward the employees who work for her at the Department of Secretary of State. She also emphasized her concern about the threatening communications and dehumanizing images directed at her and her loved ones.

The state police spokesperson confirmed to the Washington Examiner that an investigation into who placed the call is underway. Bellows also mentioned that her personal address has been posted online, which further adds to her concern for her safety and that of her family members.
