Man With Machete Shot Dead In California Grocery Store

In Southern California, a man armed with two machetes was fatally shot at an Albertsons grocery store on Tuesday after advancing toward deputies, authorities reported.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office responded to a disturbance call just before 9:30 a.m. in Lancaster, where they found the male suspect standing outside the store’s entrance with the machetes stored in his backpack.

Despite deputies’ attempts to engage with the man, he reportedly became agitated and seized the machetes in both hands.

The suspect proceeded into the store and ignored deputies’ repeated commands to drop the weapons, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies entered the store and attempted to disarm the man using non-lethal methods, which proved unsuccessful, officials stated.

Witnesses informed FOX11 Los Angeles that deputies had initially tried to communicate with the man and utilized Tasers. Subsequently, the suspect abruptly charged at the deputies, prompting three deputies to discharge their firearms, the sheriff’s office disclosed.
