Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg is asking the judge in the Donald Trump criminal hush money case to impose a partial gag order on the former president until the trial begins next month.
Bragg made the request in three separate court filings date Feb,. 22 in which he and his team asked for the order to prevent Trump from making statements attacking others involved in his legal cases.
Prosecutors accused Trump of having paid an individual $130,000 to conceal a sexual encounter to influence the 2016 presidential election, then falsified 34 business records to cover up the payoff.
The requests also ask for a protective order to keep the names and addresses of jurors from being disclosed to anyone other than attorneys and requested evidence and testimony regarding campaign finance be limited.
The prosecution team argues Trump has a history of verbally attacking people involved in his cases.
Trump is already subject to a gag order in a federal case in which Washington, D.C., in which he ‘s accused of trying to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election.
