Maui Residents Flee Into Ocean To Escape Flames

Several Hawaiian islands are undergoing multiple evacuations due to the convergence of Hurricane Dora’s impact and a robust high-pressure ridge positioned to the north. This combination is exacerbating the spread of perilous wildfires in the region.
On Tuesday, firefighting teams were engaged in combatting brush fires on both Maui and the Big Island. These fires were propelled by wind gusts exceeding 70 mph, contributing to the swift expansion of the flames.
Moreover, the forceful winds necessitated the temporary suspension of aircraft operations to ensure safety measures.
