Once upon a time, a woman would meet a man, get married, have a family.
That was the normal path to a relationship and a happy life.
But despite that wass this, this is now — and women have had enough.
Recent data unveils a mounting discontent among women regarding the societal pressure to conform to traditional relationship timelines.
According to a survey conducted by Bumble for their annual dating report in 2024, one in three women now assert that they are no longer fixated on achieving these predetermined milestones.
The study reveals a significant shift in attitude where women are now prioritizing finding the right partner rather than succumbing to the rush of meeting “outdated” goals.
Lucille McCart, the APAC communications director at Bumble, shared her insights on the matter, highlighting how women are questioning the need to adhere to an archaic rulebook when it comes to their dating journeys and relationship milestones.
Interestingly, 31 percent of women explicitly expressed their disinterest in conforming to traditional relationship timelines. This transformation signifies a departure from the conventional narrative, empowering individuals to forge their own paths in the pursuit of love and happiness.
Bumble has dubbed this shifting trend as the “timeline decline,” as women increasingly embrace the freedom to shape their personal romantic narratives. However, it is crucial to note that this paradigm shift does not diminish the significance of romantic relationships. In fact, the report reveals that 72 percent of women on Bumble are actively seeking long-term partnerships, dispelling any misconceptions about the demise of romance.
Remarkably, only 23 percent of respondents view marriage as their ultimate goal, signifying a significant departure from societal norms. McCart views this as an exhilarating revolution for Australian singles, highlighting a growing desire for customization and individuality in matters of the heart.
