New Texas Law Requires Drunk Drivers Who Kill A Parent To Pay Child Support

A Texas law requires drunk drivers to pay child support if they cause the death of a parent.
The commonsense measure took effect on Friday after being signedby Lone Star State Gov. Greg Abbott earlier this year in June.
“Any time a parent passes is tragic, but a death at the hands of a drunk driver is especially heinous,” Abbott tweeted in July. “I was proud to sign HB 393 into law this year to require offenders to pay child support for the children of their victims.”
