NJ Governor Using Office To Help Wife’s Senate Campaign

New Jersey Republicans are accusing Democratic Governor Phil Murphy of utilizing taxpayer-funded resources to endorse his wife Tammy Murphy’s U.S. Senate campaign, according to the New York Post.

Tammy Murphy is vying for the Senate seat currently held by Sen. Robert Menendez, facing competition from Rep. Andy Kim, D-N.J., and potentially Sen. Menendez himself in the Democratic Party primary.

Documentation reveals that the governor’s office has employed public resources to highlight Tammy Murphy’s achievements.

“We finally understand: all of these years Phil Murphy promised that to make things ‘Stronger and Fairer,’ he was talking about his own marital harmony — not New Jersey,” remarked New Jersey Republican Party spokeswoman Alex Wilkes, as reported by the Post on Monday.

“His backward policies have bankrupted everyone in this state who hasn’t already left, so it makes sense that he’s using the taxpayer dime to support his wife’s campaign: they’re some of the only ones left who can afford to stay here.”

Since Tammy Murphy declared her Senate candidacy on November 15, Gov. Murphy’s press office has disseminated press releases regarding the state’s first lady on the governor’s official website.
