New Mexico Democratic Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham on Friday suspended open and concealed carry of firearms in the city of Albuquerque for a 30 day period.
The governor issued the order following the shooting of an 11-year-old boy outside a baseball stadium, the Associated Press reported.
She anticipates legal challenges to the order, which applies to New Mexican regions that exceed a certain violent crime threshold. Only Albuquerque does so.
