No Cash, No Problem

Starting Monday, people arrested for crimes across Illinois will no longer be ordered to pay a cash to ensure their release from jail.
Illinois will become the first U.S. state to go to a so-called “no cash” or “cashless” bail system.
The new system was supposed to go into effect early this year, but if faced legal challenges and pushback from prosecutors and law enforcement officials who sought to keep it in place.
