NYC Police Shred Privacy Rights, Use Drones To Monitor Private Parties

Attendees at outdoor gatherings and barbecues in New York City this weekend may encounter an unexpected presence overseeing their festivities: a surveillance drone deployed by the police.
The New York City Police Department has unveiled plans to initiate a trial run of these unmanned aerial vehicles in reaction to complaints regarding substantial gatherings, encompassing private functions, anticipated over the Labor Day weekend, as disclosed by officials on Thursday.
“If a caller states there’s a large crowd, a large party in a backyard, we’re going to be utilizing our assets to go up and go check on the party,” Kaz Daughtry, the assistant NYPD Commissioner, said at a press conference.
