Former ESPN sports anchor Keith Olbermann has once again ignited controversy, this time by launching a personal attack against former NCAA swimming champion Riley Gaines for her advocacy in safeguarding women’s sports from potential encroachments by male-born “transgender women” athletes.
Olbermann used his X account to deliver a provocative message directed at Gaines. In an impassioned post, he remarked, “Can you simply acknowledge the reality and progress beyond it? Your performance in swimming was lackluster. That is the reason for your defeat.”
Olbermann’s comments appear to be directed towards Gaines’ participation in the 2022 NCAA swimming championships, wherein she secured a fourth-place position while sharing the spot with Lia Thomas, a male-born “transgender” swimmer.
