Patrick Mahomes’ Dad Lives Up To Reputation, Jailed For Another DUI

Former MLB pitcher and father to the Kansas City Chiefs’ star quarterback Patrick Mahomes, Patrick Mahomes Sr. was taken into custody this past Saturday in Tyler, Texas. Facing charges related to driving while intoxicated, this marks his third such arrest, as indicated by county jail records.
The incident occurs in the lead-up to a significant sporting event, as Patrick Mahomes is scheduled to appear in Super Bowl LVIII. His team, the Chiefs, are preparing to face off against the San Francisco 49ers in a highly anticipated game in Las Vegas, merely eight days following the elder Mahomes’ arrest.
Mahomes Sr.’s history with DWI charges extends back to a 2018 arrest, subsequent to which he served time in jail. Details from the period reveal that his sentence was served on weekends throughout 2019 and 2020, summing up to a total of 40 days behind bars.
With a career spanning over 11 seasons in Major League Baseball, Mahomes Sr. is recognized for his time with the New York Mets. His pitching contributions were particularly noted during the ’99 and 2000 MLB seasons.
Traces of legal troubles seem to run in the family as Jackson Mahomes, younger brother to the Chiefs quarterback, faced legal challenges last year. He was arrested on allegations of aggravated sexual battery following an incident with a restaurant owner in February.
The Mahomes family has thus found themselves in the media spotlight not only for their sports achievements but also for their off-field encounters with the law. The Chiefs have yet to comment on the recent arrest of Patrick Mahomes Sr. as they focus on the forthcoming Super Bowl challenge.
