The Justice Department revealed in court documents filed on Wednesday that officials within the Massachusetts Air National Guard had expressed internal concerns about the handling and viewing of classified information by Jack Teixeira, a member of the guard who is facing charges for leaking highly classified military documents.
The court filing was made by Justice Department lawyers as they urged a magistrate judge to keep Teixeira in custody until his trial, which is linked to a significant intelligence leak.
The judge is anticipated to hear additional arguments on Friday regarding the prosecution’s request for detention and will subsequently issue a ruling.
