Poll Shows Young Voters Prefer Trump Over Biden

In a hypothetical 2024 matchup, young registered voters exhibit a preference for former President Donald Trump over President Joe Biden, as per a New York Times/Siena poll released on Tuesday.

Among registered voters aged 18 to 29, 49 percent expressed their inclination to vote for Trump, while 43 percent leaned toward Biden. In contrast, likely voters in the same age group favored Biden over Trump by a margin of 47 percent to 44 percent.

This pattern aligns with the overall trend of the poll, where Trump secured a 2-point lead over Biden among registered voters, while Biden held a corresponding lead among likely voters.

The poll, based on a sample of 1,016 registered voters, indicated a margin of error of 3.5 percent for the entire poll and 3.7 percent for likely voters. Examining all respondents, 37 percent approved of President Biden’s performance, while 58 percent disapproved.

Among likely voters, the approval and disapproval figures stood at 39 percent and 57 percent, respectively. Trump held a more favorable rating among registered voters, with both candidates achieving the same net favorability rating among likely voters.

The poll’s results emerge at a time when President Biden is grappling with persistently low poll numbers, a matter reported by the Washington Post, portraying the president trailing behind Trump both nationally and in swing states since early November.
