Democrat Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ) has responded to the backlash over his indictment on federal bribery charges by accusing his critics of racism.
Menendez will be stepping down as chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. However, the case has led to widespread calls for Menendez’s resignation from both sides of the aisle.
Backed into a corner, the senator pulled out the oldest trick in the Democrat book and played the race card.
“It is not lost on me how quickly some are rushing to judge a Latino and push him out of his seat,” Menendez said.
