A model who was eight months pregnant died after two gunman with rifles opened fire on a parked car she was sitting in with the child’s father in Washington, D.C.
Miraculously, her daughter was successfully delivered shortly after in an emergency C-section but is in critical condition. The child’s father also survived the attack.
Samya Gill, 22, was in the passenger seat of a sedan parked in Southeast DC at around 11am on Thursday when another car pulled up and two gunmen jumped out.
Between the two they fired at least 14 rounds into the car, striking Gill and her child’s father, who was in the driver’s seat, but not the unborn child directly, police said.
DC Police Assistant Chief Andre Wright described it as a ‘brazen attack’ and suggested it was targeted but was unable to identify a motive.
