In a ruling on Friday, Britain’s High Court determined that Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, was a victim of phone hacking by Mirror Group Newspapers (MGN), the publisher of the Daily Mirror tabloid.
Prince Harry has been granted £140,600, equivalent to approximately $180,000, in damages. Justice Timothy Fancourt, presiding over the case at Britain’s High Court, described the awarded sum as “modest,” emphasizing that the Mirror Group’s role was limited in contributing to the challenges faced by the Duke.
The judge clarified that the Mirror Group was not solely responsible for all the unlawful activities directed at Prince Harry, and a significant portion of the press’s oppressive behavior was not deemed unlawful.
