Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in Beijing on Tuesday to hold talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping, marking a significant visit aimed at emphasizing the strong and unrestricted partnership between the two nations. This visit is occurring amidst the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
This trip is only the second known instance of Putin traveling abroad since the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague issued an arrest warrant for him in March. Upon his arrival at Beijing Capital International Airport on Tuesday morning, Putin was warmly received by the Chinese Minister of Commerce, Wang Wentao.
Furthermore, this is President Putin’s inaugural official visit beyond the boundaries of the former Soviet Union this year, with his prior visit being to Kyrgyzstan, another former Soviet republic, earlier in the month.
