Ramaswamy Says He’ll Withdraw From Colorado Primary Unless Trump Is Reinstated

Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy has vowed to withdraw his name from Colorado’s Republican primary ballot unless former President Donald Trump is reinstated following the state’s historic Supreme Court ruling. The court on Tuesday declared Trump ineligible for office, citing his conduct during the Capitol riot on Jan. 6, 2021, under the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.

Ramaswamy accused Democrat judges of barring Trump from the Colorado ballot and called the ruling an “actual attack on democracy” and “un-American.” In a statement, he further criticized the bipartisan political establishment for attempting to eliminate Trump from the election.

“I demand that Ron DeSantis, Chris Christie, and Nikki Haley to do the same immediately – or else they are tacitly endorsing this illegal maneuver which will have disastrous consequences for our country,” Ramaswamy wrote, urging fellow Republican presidential candidates to follow in his footsteps.

The court’s ruling is stayed until January 4, owing to the possibility of appeals. However, three justices on the Colorado Supreme Court dissented from the ruling. The majority wrote that they had weighed the gravity of questions before them and that they were bound to apply the law without favor or prejudice.

In response to the ruling, Trump Campaign Spokesman Steven Cheung said that an appeal would be filed on Tuesday evening. Cheung criticized the Colorado Supreme Court’s decision, accusing them of supporting a left-wing group’s scheme to interfere with the election and eliminate the rights of Colorado voters.

The documents reveal that the Colorado Supreme Court’s disqualification of Trump was a result of his conduct during the Capitol riot, which the court deemed unconstitutional and contrary to behavior expected of a public official.
