Record Number Of Chinese Nationals Caught Crossing Southern Border

Illegal Chinese immigration into the United States has hit an all-time high, with a staggering 4,797 Chinese nationals caught crossing the southwestern border into Mexico in November alone.

This alarming figure broke the record for the second month running, with figures from Customs and Border Patrol pointing to November as the third month in a row that a new record was set for monthly encounters with Chinese nationals.

According to immigration authorities, there were also 7,245 encounters with Chinese nationals across the United States in November, marking an increase from the previous month’s national record of 7,164. The numbers are a stark contrast to previous years, when only 450 southwest border encounters occurred with Chinese nationals during the 2021 fiscal year. This surged to 2,176 during FY 2022 before skyrocketing to 24,314 during FY 2023. Just the first two months of FY 2024 have already seen more than 9,000 Chinese nationals come into contact with immigration officials.

While the reason for this increase in illegal Chinese immigration is not yet clear, experts speculate that it may be due to China’s recent crackdown on cryptocurrency and the resulting rise of a black market for bitcoin mining equipment in the United States. With many Chinese bitcoin miners looking to relocate their operations to the US, and with the current shortage of American workers, it may be that Chinese nationals are taking advantage of lax border controls to enter the country illegally and find work.

The surge in illegal Chinese immigration highlights the urgent need for better border security measures, including improved collaboration between US and Mexican authorities.

In the meantime, immigration officials are working tirelessly to keep up with the incoming waves of Chinese nationals, as well as those from other countries. Border patrol agents are stretched thin and facing increasing dangers as they deal with organized crime, drugs, and human trafficking.
