SD Gov. Kristi Noem Deploys More National Guard Troops To Border

Governor Kristi Noem has taken the initiative to deploy 50 National Guard troops to the southern Texas border with the primary objective of combating drug and human trafficking.
In a statement issued on Friday, Governor Noem expressed her confidence in the South Dakota National Guard’s ability to contribute to resolving the issues at the southern border, emphasizing their commitment to securing the nation and addressing the challenging conditions there. She conveyed her appreciation to these courageous men and women for answering the call to serve and defending freedom.
Governor Noem had previously announced her intention to provide assistance in June and confirmed the deployment date of September 1 during a joint news conference in August. This event included her counterparts from Iowa, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Texas, namely Governors Kim Reynolds, Jim Pillen, Kevin Stitt, and Greg Abbott, respectively.
