U.S. special operations forces on Sunday executed a perilous evacuation of the American embassy in Sudan, as warring in the African country continues for more than a week.
With about 100 troops and three MH-47 helicopters, the U.S. embassy in Sudan’s capitol city of Khartoum was reportedly evacuated in less than an hour.
There were reportedly no shots fires and no major casualties.
While the embassy is shuttered indefinitely, thousands of private American citizens remaining in the east African country, in which over 400 people have been killed in the fighting.
