Susheela Jayapal, currently serving as a Multnomah County commissioner, is expected to officially enter the race for Oregon’s 3rd Congressional District.
This decision comes in the wake of Rep. Earl Blumenauer’s announcement that he will not seek reelection in 2024. Susheela Jayapal, sister of Rep. Pramila Jayapal, a prominent member of the “Squad” Democrats, plans to launch her campaign for Blumenauer’s congressional seat soon, according to multiple sources cited by the Oregonian.
As of now, no Democratic candidates have filed for this seat, making the May Democratic primary a key race to watch in Oregon for 2024.
