Texas Supreme Court Allows Ban On Puberty Blockers, Hormone Therapy To Go Into Effect

The Texas Supreme Court granted permission for the state’s prohibition on medical procedures related to transgender minors to be implemented.
Thursday’s ruling followed a recent injunction issued last Friday by a judge, which temporarily blocked the law in response to a legal challenge initiated by families of transgender adolescents and medical practitioners. The law, originally scheduled to go into effect on the forthcoming Friday, now has the green light for enforcement.
Lawyers representing the concerned families articulated their distress in a collective statement reported by Reuters, asserting, “Today’s ruling, in its lack of compassion, places Texas’ transgender youth, along with the dedicated families and medical professionals who support and care for them, in immediate jeopardy.”
