Travelers At Major US Airport Warned Of Measles Exposure

Health officials in Ohio issued a warning of potential measles exposure after a person traveled through Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport last month.

The Ohio Department of Health (ODH) stated that individuals who passed through Terminal A of the airport between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Jan. 27 and 8:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. on Jan. 29 may have been exposed to measles. The ODH, in collaboration with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other health authorities, is actively working to identify and contact potentially exposed passengers on specific flights.

The cautionary alert stems from a reported case of measles in a Montgomery County child, as disclosed by health officials on Saturday.

The warning is issued “out of an abundance of caution” to mitigate potential further exposure. Measles symptoms typically manifest in two stages, starting with a fever exceeding 101 degrees, runny nose, watery red eyes, and a cough that emerges 7 to 14 days after exposure.

The second stage, occurring three to five days later, is characterized by a rash on the face that subsequently spreads to the rest of the body.

The health advisory aims to prompt awareness and vigilance among those who may have been in proximity to the affected individual during the specified timeframes.
