Former President Donald Trump referred to his closest rival, Florida GOP Governor Ron DeSantis, as a “son-of-a-bitch” during a recent event over the weekend.
This latest swipe by the former president is part of a pattern, as Trump has previously used derogatory nicknames for the governor throughout their ongoing campaign. These include “Meatball Ron,” “Ron DeEstablishment,” “Shutdown Ron,” “Ron DisHonest,” “DeSoros,” and “Ron DeSanctimonious.”
During the event, Trump reminisced about the support he claims to have provided to DeSantis during his initial run for governor in 2018, where DeSantis narrowly defeated Democrat Andrew Gillum. It is worth noting that the previous two gubernatorial races in Florida, in 2014 and 2018, were decided by a narrow 1-point margin. However, in the 2022 reelection, DeSantis achieved a commanding victory with a significant 19-point lead.
