Trump Team Asks Top Georgia Court To Deny Fani Willis Disqualification Appeal

President-elect Trump’s legal team submitted a written opposition Friday to the Georgia Supreme Court over District Attorney Fani Willis’s request to have the high court review her removal from the former president’s 2020 election interference case.

Trump’s lawyers argue a review from the high court is not a right and should only be granted “in cases of great concern, gravity, or importance to the public,” according to court filings.

They cited the majority opinion from the state’s court of appeals on Willis, which said the appearance of impropriety was “significant” and an “odor of mendacity” stands.

In a Wednesday petition, Willis argued that the lower court “overreached” in their ruling.

She was disqualified from the case after it was revealed that she had a relationship with special prosecutor Nathan Wade, who she hired onto the case.

“No Georgia court has ever disqualified a district attorney for the mere appearance of impropriety without the existence of an actual conflict of interest,” her team declared.
