Trump’s Self-Dealing Accuser

The writer who accused former President Donald Trump of rape, assault and defamation, E. Jean Carroll, said Wednesday she helped New York Democrats change a state law to allow her to bring the lawsuit.
The Adult Survivors Act was signed into law in 2022 by Gov. Kathy Hochul. It resulted in a $5 million judge for Carroll.
Her lawyer, Roberta Kaplan, said, “E. Jean actually helped to get that law passed. It passed last year. We filed – it was Thanksgiving Day, the first day you could sue.”
