UnitedHealthcare Announces New CEO

UnitedHealthCare announced it has a new CEO earlier this week, almost two months after former CEO Brian Thompson was shot and killed in Manhattan.

The health insurance giant’s new CEO is long-time company employee Tim Noel.

Noel joined UnitedHealth Group in 2007 serving in a financial and operations role, according to the company’s website.

He also previously worked on restructuring at Northwest Airlines during its bankruptcy proceedings.

Noel brings “unparalleled experience” to the role and a track record of “improving how health care works for consumers, physicians, employers, governments and our partners,” and UnitedHealthCare spokesperson told The Hill via email.

Thompson was killed in a targeted attack while on his way to an investor conference in Midtown Manhattan. He was appointed chief executive officer of the company in 2021.
