The U.S. military has killed Islamic State leader Usamah al-Muhajir in drone strike in Syria, U.S. Central Command said Sunday.
The MQ-9 drones that carried out the attack Friday are the same ones that, earlier in the day, Russian aircraft had harassed for nearly two hours, U.S. officials also said.
“We have made it clear that we remain committed to the defeat of ISIS throughout the region,” CENTCOM Commander Gen. Michael Kurilla said. “ISIS remains a threat, not only to the region but well beyond.”
