A Chinese naval flotilla left shore Sunday to join Russia naval and air forces in the Sea of Japan.
The purpose of the joint exercise is to “safeguarding the security of strategic waterways”, China’s Defense ministry says.
The drill appears to be the latest in enhanced military cooperation between China and Russia since Moscow last year invaded Ukraine.
It’s also being perceived as China’s ongoing rebuff of the United States’ calls to resume military communication.
