Washington Commanders President Shuts Down Push To Restore Redskins Name To NFL Team

Regrettably, fans of the former Redskins must accept that any aspirations to resurrect the prior team name for Washington, D.C.’s NFL franchise, now known as the Washington Commanders, have been categorically quashed. Team President Jason Wright delivered this decisive statement during an interview with a local radio station on Wednesday.
This declaration surfaces in response to recent efforts by the nonprofit Native American Guardians Association (NAGA) to advocate for the restoration of the Redskins name.
The team transitioned away from the “Redskins” name in 2020, after employing it for a span of 90 years. As of the current moment, NAGA has accumulated a substantial count of nearly 130,000 signatures within just over two months in support of their cause.
