Senior politics editor Dan Eggen told colleagues that The Washington Post is removing him from his role at the end of the year, The Hollywood Reporter’s Lachlan Cartwright reported Thursday.
“I struggled with how to write this message since there is an element of begging to it that is not particularly attractive. But what the hey: I was informed Monday that I will be removed as senior politics editor at the end of the year. I will leave it to others to explain why,” Eggen wrote to his colleagues in a message, according to Cartwright.
Eggen added that he was “crushed” by the news, Cartwright reported.
His apparently looming dismissal is the latest chapter in a saga of dysfunction for the Jeff Bezos-owned paper.
