Washington Post To Cut 240 Jobs

The Washington Post Guild has expressed deep frustration regarding an impending staff reduction at the newspaper owned by Jeff Bezos, one of the world’s wealthiest individuals.
The Washington Post recently revealed its intention to offer “voluntary separation packages” to employees in all departments, resulting in the elimination of 240 positions. The Post Guild, a long-standing advocate for Post employees since 1934, strongly criticized this decision.
In a statement posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, the Washington Post Guild voiced their indignation, stating, “We are infuriated about this decision and concerned for our dedicated, brilliant colleagues… [The] announcement comes after at least 38 people were laid off over the last year. Hard-working Post employees are going to lose their jobs because of a litany of poor business decisions at the top of our company.” The statement also took a direct swipe at Bezos.
