Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton’s impeachment trial commenced on Tuesday in the state Senate, encompassing 16 articles of impeachment concerning allegations of bribery, dereliction of duty, and disregard of official duty.
Paxton entered a plea of not guilty to all 16 counts during the Tuesday morning proceedings.
Despite the Senate’s Republican majority, they denied all of Paxton’s motions to dismiss on Tuesday morning. Nevertheless, the Senate also determined that he could not be compelled to testify.
