The US Military Academy at West Point on the Hudson River has flooded – leaving washed-out cars stranded while homes in the residential area were submerged.
Images of Thayer Road, leading to the prestigious military base in New York, showed dangerously deep rainwater submerging numerous vehicles Sunday evening.
One resident posted a picture, writing the stark warning: ‘Find high ground.’ An estimated 3.5 inches of rainfall per hour has fallen in West Point so far.
West Point in New Yew is the oldest of the five American service academies and educates cadets for commissioning into the US Army – and is home to around 4,200 students.
